With so many wireless Bluetooth speakers on the market it’s really hard to decide which one you should spend your hard earned money on and which ones you should avoid all together. Do you go name brand, accept the high price tag and maybe get what you expect? Or do you go with a little known brand you’ve likely never heard of “yet” and take a chance?
We get it, it’s hard to go against the grain when you see everyone raving about the newest Apple product. Not saying it isn’t quality tech but we’d be lying to you if we didn’t think you are paying more than you should sometimes. Other companies out there are making quality technology at a much more affordable price than the typical juggernauts you are familiar with. Live a little!
With that being said we here at Tech-Inspector.com love to find those diamonds in the rough when it comes to technology and gadgets. We were very excited when MARSEE gave us this speaker so we could test it out and review their rugged Zero X Bluetooth Speaker and forward on what we found to our readers! Please keep in mind, that although we did receive this speaker for free, this review is 100% unbiased and our complete and honest opinion. So go on! Check out the Zero X Bluetooth Speaker by MARSEE and enjoy the review!
Zero X Features
The Zero X MARSEE Bluetooth Speaker utilizes the latest in Bluetooth technology which significantly lowers overall power consumption and allows you to play more music without worrying if your phone does or doesn’t have enough battery left to jam out. It also has a built in microphone so you don’t have to worry about running to your phone to answer the call, you can do it all right by the speaker!
After testing it out on a few phone calls, the person on the other end had no problem hearing us even from the adjacent open room. Additional upsides to this speaker is the incredible durability & sound quality which we will touch on these below.
This Bluetooth speaker has some insane durability, which could be what contributes to its overall heaviness in relation to it’s rather small size.
Zero X is rated IPX6 for water and IPX7 for shock/drop damage. So what does that mean to you?
Let me put it to you this way — prior to writing this review I literally chucked this speaker all over my townhouse and the music never skipped a beat. No damage seen to the exterior either after bouncing it off a few walls. With that in mind we in no way condone you doing this to your own speaker and in no way accept responsibility if you break your own property or that of others attempting such things.
For water testing I filled up a bucket of water and dropped the speaker in for about 15-20 seconds. The sound was of course muffled and after extraction the speaker needed to “shake itself off” but it worked fine. Taking this speaker into the shower would be a non-issue, but you’d be fine just leaving it on the counter, it gets plenty loud! **BE SURE THAT THE TPU PROTECTIVE COVERING IS OVER THE CHARGING PORT IF YOU PLAN TO SUBJECT THE SPEAKER TO POSSIBLE WATER EXPOSURE**
The designers of this speaker really wanted their users to have the ability to take their Bluetooth speaker anywhere; whether it be in the shower or on a hike or in my case tossing it across the house or into a bucket of water. Its nice that you can take this MARSEE speaker with you without fear of breaking it if it meets the ground or some rough elements. In this day and age where toilets, pools, cocktails and the cold hard cement damage our devices daily these features are greatly appreciated and save you money. Check out what the designers had to say:
Rated IPX6 water resistance Level: Large area of sealed TPU silicone ensures great splash-proof, Shock-proof and Dust-proof function, so it can be used outdoor and in the shower.
We also want you to know that if you don’t want to, or can’t play music wireless from your phone the speaker has a slot for a Micro-SD card, & Aux cord capabilities for other devices using the provided 3.5mm audio cable.
The speaker contains two total 8W drivers which provides an excellent stereo/distortion-free sound. A built-in massive passive radiator provides a strong bass without the crackling and distortion you get with some other speakers on the market. You won’t have to worry about sacrificing sound even at highest volume form any heavy hitting track you will want to play.
*During testing we put on an old school track by the “Big Tymers” and the Zero X MARSEE Bluetooth speaker sounded fantastic, really brought me back to the days of cruising around in my old Saturn thinking I was way cooler than I was.
One thing we noticed with this speaker which can be viewed either as a negative, or positive depending on where you are is the Zero X literally hits hard enough that it causes the speaker to move around on a smooth flat surfaces. This in turn can cause it to fall from wherever it is originally located, but as stated above that isn’t a huge concern, but worth noting.
Thanks to the built-in rechargeable 2000 Ah battery you get a solid 8 hours playing time with a single charge which is decent. Recharge only needs ~3 hours which in our opinion is a little slow, but could be worse. At least it isn’t like rechargeable batteries of the past where you charged a 5 pound battery for 8 hours and got 15 minutes of juice. When you take into the price (see below) and the size of the speaker it’s hard to expect a more without paying through the nose or compromising the size/weight.
A similar speaker we reviewed retails for $60.00 plus and the only feature it does different is float with less superior sound. The Zero X is only $23.99 on Amazon. That is an incredible price! This speaker outperforms many more expensive units that we have seen at Tech Inspector and is not nearly as expensive.
You’ll notice the Zero X doesn’t have any volume buttons, you will need to push and hold >> or << buttons to increase or decrease the sound.
Overall it’s a solid little Bluetooth speaker for the price, and for the price you really can’t go wrong with what it offers. It won’t rock the block but if you are in the market for solid, well constructed speaker with durability and splash-protection then you won’t be disappointed with the Zero X. This would make a great gift this holiday season for kids and adults alike.
